The Latino Luncheon Group established this endowment to support Latino students who have demonstrated a commitment to
completing their education and have certain financial hardships that make it difficult for them to pay for the cost of attending West Chester University. This one-time scholarship is intended to help these students achieve their educational goals and can be applied toward any education-related costs, including textbooks, lab fees, and/or any other fees associated with their studies. This one-time scholarship is managed in collaboration with the West Chester University Foundation. In September 2013, the Latino Luncheon met for a special occasion. We celebrated and presented Latino Luncheon Scholars Award. These young students have great self-motivated spirit along with extraordinary records. |

2012 Recipients - Erika Rico and Joana Peres
"I want to take this time to once again thank the Chester County Latino Luncheon team for allowing me to receive this scholarship. The money I received from the scholarship was used to purchase all of the school materials needed, mostly textbooks, for both the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters. Some of the award also went towards paying part of the tuition. These awards remind me of what I am capable of and encourage me to keep working hard towards reaching my goals" - - Erika Rico
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank The Latino Luncheon Members and the Donors for the scholarship I received last September. The Latino Luncheon Scholarship has taken an immense financial burden off of my shoulders as it was used toward my tuition costs. I am currently enrolled in Business Management with a dual minor in Economics and International Business. I made the Dean’s list during the fall semester, and I am on track to graduate next May." - - Joana Peres
2013 Recipients - Elenie Gonzalez, Jose Rodriguez Zavala, Idna Graciela Castellon, Orville Hernandez
”The Latino Luncheon scholarship money that was awarded to me was used towards both my fall and spring tuition. It definitely had a huge help financially in order to pay for classes. All the money went towards my classes and helped both me and my parents to facilitate the cost of college. I am very thankful for the award.” - - Orville Hernandez
“I received a $1,500 scholarship from the Latino Luncheon Group. It was directly put into my account for tuition here at West Chester. The scholarship amount was split in half, $750 for the Fall semester and $750 for the Spring semester. So, the whole scholarship was put towards tuition. I am so grateful for being awarded this scholarship because it really put me and my family at a bit of ease for the sake of not having to worry so much about taking out more loans. Because of this, I was also able to save more money to put towards purchasing textbooks, software, and other materials needed for my classes. At the time, my mom does not have a job because she was disabled due to an illness. This made college seem like an impossible goal to reach but I was able to temporarily afford it with loans, financial aid, grants, and, of course, the Latino Luncheon Scholarship.” - - Elenie Gonzalez
The 2012 & 2013 Awards were made possible by the generous participation of our friends and sponsors (Click Here) and by the funds raised at the "Latin Night: Eat, Drink, Dance and Network for a Good Cause” events in April 2012 & 2013.
This year we are hosting “the Latin Night” fundraiser on May 16, 2014, and are confident we will raise even more money than last year. This will give us the chance to help more students, students we intend will develop into leaders who will have experienced firsthand the benefits of all aspects of diversity and inclusion by being the recipient of a scholarship from the Latino Luncheon, a group of people who are proud of their heritage and who bring diversity to the community.
